Legal Assistant

The Washington Appellate Project is accepting applications for a full-time legal assistant.

OUR ROLE AND MISSION

The Washington Appellate Project is a law office that provides legal representation to persons who wish to appeal their convictions but who cannot afford to hire an attorney to represent them. We aspire to create an environment of mutual respect and teamwork to foster a positive work place and provide the highest quality of representation to our clients.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an individual who listens with empathy, demonstrates attention to detail, has a passion for equal justice, supports diversity, and who believes all persons are to be treated with respect. Experience in a legal office desired. Although the office manager oversees the position, our ideal candidate is able to work independently and with a team. There are four administrative staff and 20 attorneys in our office. Hours flexibility is possible.

Responsibilities include answering phones and assisting clients, data entry, organizing and assembling files for review, office supply ordering, and closed file management. This position will provide an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, challenging, diverse, and rewarding environment.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Starting annual salary $40,000-$45,000. Benefits include medical and dental insurance, gym membership, and an employer-sponsored retirement matching plan.
